The Çivril district of Denizli province has fertile lands. Even its name describes this fertility: "Çivril" is a term from Chagatai Turkish used by Chagatai Turks who migrated to Anatolia during the Seljuk period, meaning "place with abundant water" or "wetland." La Recolte Du Monde hosted Mr. Mehmet Ali Topal, who produces and sells sunflower seeds wholesale in the Çivril district of Denizli. We learned about MATO Agricultural Products, which recently entered the legume sector. Our interview about MATO's present and future plans begins.

Can you tell us about your company?

We started operating in 2013 by establishing our facility in the Çivril District of Denizli. MATO Agricultural Products is a 1.5 trillion investment. We wholesale products such as sunflower seeds, wheat, and poppy obtained from Çivril's fertile lands. We have a sunflower seed facility with an annual capacity of 1,500 tons. However, we aim to increase production by expanding the facility in the coming days.

How did you decide to establish MATO Agricultural Products?

The Çivril region is fed by the waters of the Menderes and we have fertile lands. We are successful in sunflower seed cultivation. Acting with foresight on this matter, I decided to establish a sunflower seed facility. We currently have wholesale sales to the sector, but in the future, we plan to package and sell our product under our own brand. Our biggest goal is to become a brand in the nuts sector.

Can you tell us about your business relationships with legume companies established in Turkey?

The machines created and facilities established by companies in Turkey according to needs provide us with advantages in production. As someone who has recognized this, I maintain business relationships with companies in the general legume sector. Companies that are experienced and have made a name for themselves in the sector are at the forefront regarding the sunflower seed facility we are planning to establish.
